About The Position

The purpose of this job is to perform a variety of general repair and maintenance duties for the Line Repair Department. May drive a Vactor truck or dump truck. This is a safety sensitive and/or DOT position. As such, you will be required to participate in random drug testing at the city.

Requirements

High school diploma (or GED equivalent)
Must obtain Class D Water Operator license issued by TCEQ within 18 months of employment
Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, punctuation
Knowledge of City water and sewer infrastructure
Knowledge of Safety regulations related to operating vehicles, equipment and hand tools
Skill in Interpersonal skills necessary to develop and maintain effective and appropriate working relationships
Skill in Performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature
Skill in Working with hands and maintaining equipment
Ability to Meet schedules and deadlines of the work.
Ability to Understand and carry out oral and written directions
Ability to Use a wide range of power and hand tools in a safe and efficeint manner
Ability to Troubleshoot damage to water and sewer main and service lines
Ability to Operate equipment safely and effeciently
Ability to Maintain the confidentiality of information and professional boundaries

Responsibilities

Installs, maintains, and repairs City water and sewer lines.
Maintains equipment and cleans hand tools and job sites.
Assists in keeping daily records of all operations.
Stocks crew truck with parts.
Addresses customer complaints and problems.
Performs on-call after hour duties.
Operate, as required, a Vactor truck to clean water and sewer mains.
Assists in training new hires.
Performs related work as required.
Must be able to provide services for the benefit of the general public during emergency situations that threaten the safety of League City’s citizens, and that, City employees must be able to work immediately before, during, or immediately after an emergency.
