About The Position
Utility Locator Protect Critical Infrastructure. Build a Meaningful Career. We're seeking a Utility Locator to help protect underground water, sewer, and gas utilities by accurately locating and marking infrastructure before excavation and construction activities occur. This is an independent, field-based role ideal for someone who is safety-focused, detail-oriented, and enjoys working outdoors.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to read maps, drawings, and GIS information.
- Proficiency with tablets, mobile devices, and Microsoft Office.
Nice To Haves
- Utility locating experience preferred.
- Water/wastewater or utility operations experience preferred.
- Strong communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Locate and mark underground utility lines using maps, GIS data, engineering drawings, and electronic locating equipment.
- Interpret job tickets, blueprints, and service requests to plan daily work.
- Document completed work and report field findings.
- Verify utility information and communicate updates as needed.
- Operate a company vehicle safely and professionally.
- Work with homeowners, contractors, and utility representatives to ensure safe excavation practices.
- Respond to routine and emergency locating requests, including occasional after-hours work.
