About The Position

The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District provides comprehensive wastewater and storm water management services to residents and businesses in both St. Louis City and County. As one of the most recognized employers in the region and a fixture in the downtown area, MSD employs over 900 individuals in a wide-range of roles including skilled crafts and laborers, engineering, information technology, finance, human resources and administration support. Requirements

  • Ability to respond to locate requests to comply with Mo-One Call program.
  • Ability to respond to cave-in service requests.
  • Ability to perform dye tests.
  • Ability to inspect signage, check valves, and interceptors.
  • Ability to respond to sanitary sewer overflow activations.
  • Ability to expose structures to be located.
  • Ability to replace covers.
  • Proficiency in using River Mapping and Arc/Reader for locating and marking sewers: storm, sanitary, combined and pressure mains.
  • Ability to interface with computerized maintenance management and mapping systems.
  • Ability to enter data and provide updates and referrals for all computer generated work orders and service requests.
  • Willingness to provide on-call support to cover nights and weekends on a rotating basis.
  • Ability to train personnel in the essential functions.
  • Ability to enter structures to remove debris from inlets and manholes.
  • Ability to remove debris from creeks and ditches.
  • Ability to cut grass, weeds, and brush using hand and power mowers, scythes, and axes.
  • Ability to load, unload, and clean trucks.
  • Ability to clean District vehicles.
  • Ability to perform spill clean-up duties as a part of a clean up team.
  • Ability to perform related work as required or as delegated by Supervisors.
