About The Position

This position is responsible for responding to locate requests to comply with the Mo-One Call program and cave-in service requests. The role involves performing dye tests, inspecting signage, checking valves, and interceptors, and responding to sanitary sewer overflow activations. The Utility Locator will expose structures to be located and replace covers. They will utilize River Mapping and Arc/Reader for locating and marking sewers (storm, sanitary, combined, and pressure mains). The position requires interfacing with computerized maintenance management and mapping systems, entering data, and providing updates and referrals for all computer-generated work orders and service requests. Additionally, the role includes providing on-call support for nights and weekends on a rotating basis and training personnel in the essential functions. Additional responsibilities include entering structures to remove debris from inlets and manholes, removing debris from creeks and ditches, cutting grass, weeds, and brush, loading/unloading and cleaning trucks and District vehicles, and performing spill clean-up duties. The position performs related work as required or delegated by Supervisors.

Requirements

  • Completion of high school or equivalent required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license issued by the state in which employee resides.
  • Ability to perform heavy manual labor.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all kinds of weather.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to use hand tools and operate various types of equipment.
  • Ability to use a computer.
  • Ability to communicate and maintain effective working relationships with the public and contractors.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license issued by the state in which employee resides.
  • Candidate must pass a Non-D.O.T. Drug Test for this position.
  • Employees of MSD must have a meets expectations.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years of underground utility locating experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to locate requests to comply with Mo-One Call program.

  • Load, unload, and clean trucks.
  • Cleans District vehicles.
  • Perform spill clean-up duties as a part of a clean up team.
  • Perform related work as required or as delegated by Supervisors.
