About The Position

ELM Utility Services is hiring a Utility Locate Technician in the Mansfield, Texas area. Technicians help protect underground gas, electric, and communication systems from damage during excavation by accurately marking utility locations. Working independently outdoors, you will use a company-provided vehicle as a mobile office, follow a daily route of locate requests, and use the LaunchPoint software system and mobile work system to manage tasks. Starting wages are $24.00–$30.00 per hour, depending on experience. This is a safety-sensitive DOT position subject to applicable Federal Department of Transportation regulations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug, Motor Vehicle Record, and background checks.
• Ability to distinguish colors and read and understand written and verbal communication and instructions in English.
• Compliance with Federal Department of Transportation regulations applicable to this safety-sensitive position; marijuana use is prohibited.

Responsibilities

• Complete a daily route of utility locate requests while working independently outdoors.
• Accurately, safely, and efficiently locate and mark underground utilities using marking paint, flags, and sometimes whiskers.
• Use the mobile work system to receive daily tasks.
• Participate in an on-call rotation and work overtime as needed, including nights and weekends when necessary.
