About The Position

ELM Utility Services is hiring a Utility Locate Technician in the Sikeston, Missouri area. Technicians help protect underground gas, electric, and communication systems from damage during excavation by accurately marking their locations. The role involves working independently outdoors, using a company-provided vehicle as a mobile office and ELM’s LaunchPoint software system to manage daily tasks. Starting pay is $23.00–$28.00 per hour, depending on experience.

This is a safety-sensitive DOT position subject to applicable Federal Department of Transportation regulations. Marijuana use, whether medical or recreational, is prohibited. Applicants must pass pre-employment drug, motor vehicle record, and background checks.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug, motor vehicle record, and background checks.
• Ability to distinguish colors and read and understand written and verbal communication and instructions in English.
• Must comply with Federal Department of Transportation regulations applicable to this safety-sensitive position; marijuana use is prohibited.

Responsibilities

• Complete a daily route of utility locate requests while working independently outdoors.
• Accurately, safely, and efficiently locate and mark underground utilities using marking paint, flags, and sometimes whiskers.
• Use the mobile work system to receive daily tasks.
• Participate in an on-call rotation and work overtime as needed, potentially including nights and weekends.
