About The Position

ELM Utility Services is hiring a Utility Locate Technician in the Jackson, Missouri area. Technicians help protect gas, electric, and communication infrastructure by accurately marking underground utilities before excavation. The role is performed independently outdoors, using a company-provided vehicle as a mobile office and LaunchPoint software to manage daily locate requests. Starting pay is $23.00–$28.00 per hour, depending on experience. This is a safety-sensitive DOT position subject to applicable Federal Department of Transportation regulations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug, Motor Vehicle Record, and background checks.
• Ability to distinguish colors and to read, understand, and follow written and verbal communication and instructions in English.
• Compliance with Federal Department of Transportation regulations for this safety-sensitive DOT position; marijuana use, whether medical or recreational, is prohibited.

Responsibilities

• Complete a daily route of utility locate requests independently while working outdoors.
• Accurately, safely, and efficiently locate and mark underground utilities using marking paint, flags, and sometimes whiskers.
• Use the mobile work system to receive daily tasks.
• Work on an on-call rotation and overtime as needed, which may include nights and weekends.
