About The Position

Lake Superior Consulting (LSC) is seeking a Utility Locate Manager to join our growing team! The Utility Locating Manager provides leadership, management and business development for utility line locating and leak detection services for LSC. This individual will also provide the team with operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, and financial oversight. The Utility Manager will work to effectively grow the services and ensure financial strength and operating efficiency. This is a critical leadership role responsible for the management of project logistics necessary to complete field work safely. This individual will be overseeing a team with direct reports within our Integrity Management Department. Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in utility line locating and leak detection preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Project management experience preferred
  • Proven track record of growing business and developing teams
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, written & verbal communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to dissect problems and quickly develop solutions
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Access
  • Strong public speaking skills
  • Ability to learn new material quickly
  • Oil & gas pipeline or related industry experience a plus
  • Attention to detail
  • Travel up to 25-40%
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding outdoor environment, as
  • Ability to traverse rugged terrain, excavations and work around pipe and equipment, as
  • Must be able to travel to offsite locations for extended periods of time
  • Frequent periods of standing for long periods
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 lb.
  • Exposure to weather including heat and cold climates
  • Ability to work long hours for extended periods, when projects demand
  • Ability to sit at a desk and work with a computer for extended periods

Responsibilities

  • Knowledgeable on various locating equipment, methods, and techniques
  • Have general knowledge in leak detection for gas operations
  • Complete projects using competent and ethical principles and techniques
  • Develop processes that helps to guide field professionals in proper execution of their daily tasks
  • Be familiar with details of client specifications and federal regulations
  • Be responsible for the leadership and professional development of Supervisors within the business unit.
  • Drive safety within the business unit to avoid injury.
  • Have general knowledge in the correct, safe and efficient locating of underground utilities
  • Understand utility permitting
  • Accurately detect, classify, and document natural gas leakage on client infrastructure
  • Have a general knowledge and understanding of underground facility and infrastructure
  • Develop and implement long-term goals and objectives to achieve the successful outcome of the program and ensure they align with LSC’s vision of being known for REAL asset Integrity Management (IM) solutions among companies who believe in INTEGRITY
  • Support in the development and manage an operating plan and budget
  • Ensure that operations activities comply with all relevant legislative, professional, and industry standards, as well as incorporate best practices to improve the IM program
  • Evaluate risk associated with proposals, work performed, and reports submitted by IM
  • Ensure that workforce is consistent with financial measures such as backlog, in-play opportunities, and prospects
  • Oversee and participate in the hiring of new employees
  • Ensure the Utilities Team complies with company policies
  • Ensure a solid department safety record is maintained by demonstrating health and safety as a priority for self and team
  • Support and assist training execution for technicians
  • Work with other supervisors, schedulers, and business lines to efficiently staff and oversee projects
  • Communicate project scopes, schedules, performance objectives
  • Ensure proper completion of site safety meetings (Tailgate) and daily performance of JSA’s and hazards evaluation to provide feedback and support
  • Make recommendations for equipment and participate in annual budgeting process
  • Working with Auditor/Trainer make recommendations for training and certifications for technicians
  • Maintaining and ensuring OQ records for reports are up to date and onsite
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by working directly with them in monthly/ quarterly meetings.
  • Ensure company KPI(s) are achieved by the team.
