About The Position

Wood is seeking a Utility Inspector to join their Pipeline Services Team in Austin, Texas. This role is crucial for ensuring that construction activities comply with project designs, drawings, specifications, procedures, and all safety and environmental regulations. The Utility Inspector will coordinate communications between project management, client staff, and constructor representatives, and will also coordinate survey crew activities to support construction events. Planning and scheduling of construction activities, ensuring proper linepipe handling at various locations (railroad, trucking, storage yards, barging, stringing), and verifying compliance with ditching and bending procedures are also key responsibilities. A thorough understanding of crossing details (railroad/highway, streams, HDD) is essential.

Requirements

  • Five years welding experience related to pipeline and facilities welding
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five years of experience in pipeline and station construction/inspection projects.
  • Well informed with project drawings, specifications and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Assure the results of the inspection task assigned are in compliance with project designs, drawings, specifications and procedures.
  • Assure construction activities comply with all safety and environmental specifications.
  • Coordinate communications between project management team, client staff and constructor representatives.
  • Coordinate survey crew activities to meet the needs of construction events.
  • Plan scheduling of coordination between construction activities.
  • Determine careful linepipe handling at different locations if assigned, i.e. railroad, trucking, storage yards, barging and stringing.
  • Assure ditching distances are in compliance with row conditions and weather, if assigned.
  • Assure bending procedures are complied with.
  • Be well-informed of details pertaining to crossings, i.e. railroad/highway, streams, HDD.
