About The Position

RECONN is seeking dedicated individuals to join their team as Utility Inspection Technicians. This role is crucial for maintaining public safety and ensuring the integrity of utility infrastructure. This position involves checking gas meters for leaks and corrosion through visual inspection and ensuring all required paperwork/data are completed. Technicians will report to their work area on time, identify abnormal operating conditions, and accurately fill out inspection forms (electronic or paper). Training will be provided.

Requirements

  • Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Available to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
  • Able to stand and walk for long periods of time on varying types of terrain; bend and stoop; lift heavy items up to 75 lbs.
  • Proficiency with technology.
  • Able to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners.
  • Able to pass a drug screen (this is a safety-sensitive position).
  • Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous outdoor experience is a plus.
  • Customer service experience is a plus.
  • Credit hours for completing our utility locator training curriculum and/or for military service.

Responsibilities

  • Checking gas meters for leaks and corrosion.
  • Performing visual inspections of gas meters.
  • Ensuring all required paperwork and data are completed accurately.
  • Reporting to the respective work area on time at the start of each shift.
  • Identifying any abnormal operating conditions.
  • Accurately filling out all forms associated with the inspection visit (electronic or paper).
  • Using simple hand tools.
  • Reading a utility map.
