About The Position

The Utility Engineer is responsible for insuring that the property is maintained in the best possible condition at all times with the least amount of inconvenience to guests and employees. This is an 89 Day Project for skilled Utility workers. Primary duties, under the direction of the Chief Engineer, focus on guest bathrooms recaulking and grouting needs. As directed, there may be some preventive maintenance work in guest rooms within the Utility framework. Perform and maintain work to local, state and Federal codes as instructed. Schedule is Monday - Friday, under the supervision of the Chief or Assistant Chief Engineer.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent and/or one year of experience in a hotel or related field required.
  • At least one year of experience in a hotel, building, hospital or dormitoary setting.
  • Must have caulking and grouting experience in a professional setting.
  • Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
  • Repetitive work - Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

Nice To Haves

  • Trade school and/or College course work in related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and maintain work to local, state and Federal codes as instructed.

  • Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the proper uniform and nametag.
  • Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.
  • Be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
  • Understand and apply complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Show initiative, including anticipating guest or operational needs.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management outside of initial project as needed.
