About The Position

Utility Driver will travel to various customers and collect used cooking oil and /or grease trap materials, cleans internal and external grease traps, delivers containers to company customers. They are expected to operate Company vehicles safely and pursuant to DOT and FMSCA regulations. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with a start time between 4am-6am. There is an occasional overnight trip to the Santa Barbara or Palm Springs area once per month. The starting hourly rate is $27-$29 per hour. Requirements

  • A valid CDL B license with Tanker Endorsement (or willingness to get prior to first day). Class A accepted but Class B preferred.
  • 3 years of commercial driving experience with your CDL.
  • Air Brake Endorsement.
  • Good driving record. Safety risk rating within Mahoney acceptable standards.
  • DOT certified medical card.
  • The ability to lift, push or pull 100 lbs. on a repetitive basis.

Responsibilities

  • Determine safest approach to access each customer job site, secure vehicle and place safety cones around vehicle.
  • Select and attached adequate number of hoses, select proper tools for removing manhole covers/internal grease trap covers and locking UCO containers.
  • Engage Power Take off Pump (PTO) and / or external pump to extract material.
  • Execute all stop documentation on service technician app.
  • Safely operate commercial vehicles pursuant to DOT and FMSCA regulations and maintain accurate records of Hours of Service (HOS).
  • Perform pre and post-trip / DVIR inspection utilizing current electronic logging device (ELD).
  • Interface professionally with customers and provide excellent customer service.
  • Proactively communicate issues or problems with customer, dispatch and / or Site managers as needed and appropriate.
  • Safely complete additional tasks assigned by dispatch or Depot Management, such as cleaning dirty containers with degreaser and a scraper, spill cleanup, refurbishing containers at the depot, assisting partners with loads in/out at the depot, taking on extra stops.
  • Communicate daily with dispatch/management to share important information from the route, about customers and regarding trucks and equipment.
