About The Position

Mountain View Electric Association (MVEA) is seeking a Utility Dispatcher responsible for maintaining continuous communication with field personnel throughout the Cooperative's service territory. This role coordinates both routine system operations and emergency response activities, including power outages and other service interruptions. The Utility Dispatcher utilizes a variety of communication tools, including radios, telephones, and dispatch software to support safe, efficient, and reliable field operations while ensuring timely coordination of resources and information. This position is scheduled to work Friday through Monday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and may be required to work additional hours as needed to support emergency response and operational needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or associate degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in electric utility dispatching, utility operations, customer service, or related field preferred.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and proficiency with telephone and radio communication systems.
  • Experience and proficiency with dispatch software, Microsoft Office, and communication tools.
  • Ability to interpret complex instructions and operational procedures furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and make sound decisions in stressful environments, including emergencies, utility outages, etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and procedure manuals accurately.
  • Organized, detail oriented, well organized, able to exercise discretion and use sound judgment in dealing with people and confidential information.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to perform functions used in basic and complex math.

Responsibilities

  • Records time, location, and nature of reported issues in the Outage Management System (OMS) and promptly relays information to appropriate field personnel.
  • Monitors emergency phone line, and maintains communication with field personnel, superintendents, and MVEA members to provide updates and resolution information related to outages and service issues.
  • Receive, prioritize, and assign service orders and maintenance requests to field crews.
  • Monitor field crew status and locations using dispatch software and GPS tracking tools.
  • Receives meter ticket information from Member Services and relay details to the appropriate field personnel.
  • Provides accurate information to field personnel regarding system layout, service areas, and outage locations.
  • Operate and control SCADA equipment at the direction of operations personnel.
  • Maintains the OMS and SCADA maps to accurately reflect the current electrical system.
  • Directs and coordinates approved switching orders with field crews.
  • Completes the daily handoff form to transfer dispatch duties to Basin (SRS dispatch) at the end of each day.
  • Communicates planned power outage information and assists members with minor electrical concerns.
  • Responsible for providing field personnel with completed work order numbers for daily work.
  • Fields member calls concerning security and street light maintenance.
  • Issues hot line tags and maintain Lockout/Tag out records for field personnel.
  • Performs spot meter reading on Yukon as needed.
  • Perform disconnects and reconnects.
  • Monitor MVEA live substation cameras.
