About The Position

New Pi is a food co-operative, owned by over 30,000 members, home-grown in Iowa. We are a grocery store that features organic and Iowa grown produce, house-cut and cured meats - many from small, local farms, hearth breads, and made-from-scratch deli meals, sides and desserts. This role will help our kitchen run efficiently by washing bakeware, equipment, and utensils and keeping spaces organized, and filled with sanitized equipment.

Requirements

• Kitchen or food preparation experience
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen and bakery environment
• Manual dexterity with hazardous equipment
• Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. throughout shift
• Ability to stand for long periods
• Ability to reach, pull, push, turn, stoop, and bend frequently during shift

Responsibilities

• Perform regularly scheduled dishwashing shifts.
• Return equipment & utensils back to storage locations for use.
• Sanitize, organize, and maintain kitchen & bakery dish area, walk-ins and storage areas to Co-op and health department standards.
• Remove all trash and recyclable items to designated areas.
• Ensure equipment is in clean and working order and advise supervisor of repairs and replacement needs.
• Assist prepared foods team members as assigned.
• Attend designated food service, store, and staff meetings.
• Start each shift at your workstation, dressed appropriately and ready to begin.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the lead or supervisor.
