About The Position

Freese and Nichols is seeking a motivated and experienced Utility Coordinator to join their North Texas Transportation team in their Fort Worth office. In this role, the Utility Coordinator will play a key part in identifying, coordinating, and resolving utility conflicts on transportation and roadway projects across the region. They will work collaboratively with project teams, utility companies, and clients to deliver high-quality results that reflect FNI's commitment to excellence and client service.

Requirements

  • Technical degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • 3+ years of related utility coordination or transportation experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to read and interpret civil transportation engineering design plans
  • Ability to read and understand utility installation and adjustment plans
  • Attention to detail and scheduling skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, and problem-solve effectively

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Ability to read and interpret contractual documents including deeds, engineering plans, subcontractor proposals, reimbursement agreements, and occupancy/use agreements
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam Revu or MicroStation
  • Certification or training related to utility engineering or utility coordination
  • Existing relationships with utility providers or public agencies in the region

Responsibilities

  • Identify, communicate, and help resolve utility conflicts on transportation and roadway projects
  • Conduct utility records research, including obtaining project utility company contacts, existing maps and plans, preparing contact ledgers, and assisting with utility conflict tracking reports
  • Support the management and coordination of Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) investigations, including schedules and submittments
  • Review and perform QA/QC on utility company agreements, plans, specifications, and cost estimates to ensure compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and client requirements
  • Assist with and conduct meetings, presentations, and meeting minutes for both in-person and virtual settings
  • Maintain frequent and professional communication with project managers, clients, and utility owners to keep projects on schedule and in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Travel to project sites and meetings as needed
