AECOM is seeking a Utility Coordinator in Tampa, FL, to support coordination efforts among multiple clients (FDOT, county, and private), contractors, and third-party utility companies. This role involves serving as a capable professional with minimal direction, developing and maintaining positive relationships with third-party utilities, and working with clients to establish priorities, monitor progress, and ensure compliance with goals and requirements. The position requires applying advanced knowledge to develop design procedures, software, and tools for high-quality, cost-effective technical project activities, as well as developing and maintaining project tracking systems for issues and resolutions. The Utility Coordinator will participate in utility and roadway meetings to promote issue resolution, prepare status reports, develop estimates of technical efforts, and manage communication and collaboration with the design team and client. Responsibilities also include conducting interdisciplinary reviews, overseeing the development and implementation of technical approaches for complex work, initiating project designs and plans, preparing presentation and design drawings, and exercising considerable latitude in determining technical objectives. The role may involve overseeing less experienced designers and meeting with clients to ensure their needs are met. This position provides utility coordination services for multiple projects with tight design and/or construction schedules across the state, acting as a liaison between engineers, contractors, governmental agencies, UAOs, and the public to resolve utility conflicts. The Utility Coordinator will oversee and guide other utility coordinators and design consultants for utility, roadway, and railroad coordination efforts, and coordinate with FDOT roadway design, right-of-way, survey, construction, and maintenance departments. Specific tasks include coordinating with FDOT in preparing Utility Work by Highway Contractor packages (UWHCA), conducting utility coordination meetings, documenting minutes, maintaining files, and following up on action items. The role also involves leading and assisting with contingency plans for unplanned utility events and reviewing FDOT utility permit applications and plans, as well as negotiating design consultant scope and staff hours.
