About The Position

The Utility Clerk or Sacker supports the daily operations of the Front-End Team. This detail-oriented role requires strong customer service and the ability to multitask. The employee bags groceries, responds to customer requests, helps customers find items, and returns merchandise to its proper location. The position also assists customers with their vehicles, retrieves carts from the parking lot, and helps maintain a clean and clear shopping environment. This is a non-exempt position that formally reports to the Front-End Manager.

Requirements

Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service.
General mathematics skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to push and pull grocery items and carts to proper locations, up to a peak force of 25 lbs.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods on tile, asphalt, concrete, or other hard surfaces.
Occasionally lift and carry up to 30 lbs. to a height of 36 inches.
Ability to bend and squat, sometimes down to floor level.
Ability to climb a ladder, possibly up to 5 feet.

Responsibilities

Obtain a liquor license and/or food handlers permit if required by the county, within the first 14 days of starting.
Bag groceries efficiently and accurately.
Provide customer service by greeting customers, asking about their bagging preferences, and offering assistance to their vehicles; know and practice Cosentino's Customer Service Standards or Red-Carpet Service.
Maintain clean and organized areas, including the sales floor, breakroom, check stands, and restrooms.
Retrieve carts from the parking lot and ensure they are clean and operational for customers.
Communicate effectively with team members and management.
Respond to customer inquiries or concerns and refer them to store management when needed.
Follow Cosentino's rules regarding alcohol and tobacco sales and handling.
Multitask while managing multiple responsibilities.
Check the bottoms of shopping carts for cashiers to help prevent merchandise loss.
Complete additional tasks identified by management, assist other stores or departments as needed, and develop new skills when necessary.
Complete ongoing training and development listed on the Cosentino’s Learning Plan.
