About The Position

This position is seasonal and contingent, lasting approximately 9-11 weeks, with potential adjustments based on volume and business needs. The Utility Assistant supports the Kitchen Production Supervisor in daily meal preparation, organization, staging, routing, and counting before transport. Key responsibilities include maintaining a clean and safe work environment in compliance with state, local, and HACCP policies. This role requires adherence to PACT values (Purpose, Accountability, Courage, Transparency) and may involve working evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma from an accredited school or general education development (GED) certificate
  • Forklift experience
  • Ability to operate food services equipment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic
  • Able to communicate and understand written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to work with a diverse population
  • Ability and willingness to be flexible in work assignments, including working in the milk room, cart washroom, dock, etc.
  • Strong customer service skills and willingness to assist others

Responsibilities

  • Reliable, consistent attendance and punctuality are required.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with all state, local, and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Ensure all supplies are available for the week’s menu and daily food production and transportation.
  • Assist in receiving all inventory.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of inventory in the warehouse.
  • Organize all meal services by route, serving time, and delivery wave.
  • Support all project areas on the dock to maintain an easy workflow.
  • Stage all equipment based on assigned projects daily.
  • Cross-check with the Kitchen Coordinator to ensure all meal components and the number of meals are accurate and routed to the proper destination, organizing workload for expedited loading times.
  • Check daily number counts for all sites and adjust daily number/milk sheet counts if needed.
  • Prepare meal orders for transportation, ensuring accuracy in counting meal components and milk for distribution.
  • Assist in completing all tasks for the front and back dock, the cart wash, and the milk room.
  • Organize meals and paperwork for delivery drivers.
  • Keep an accurate inventory of all equipment.
  • Follow portion control protocols while working on food packing lines.
  • Ensure all work areas are cleaned and sanitized after the completion of each project.
  • Maintain the daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedule.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of all equipment in the cart washroom.
