About The Position

Wright Tree Service, a business unit of Wright Canada Holdings, provides vegetation management, storm restoration, and work planning services to utility companies and their communities across North America.

Requirements

  • Certified Utility Arborist (CUA or UA) or Utility Tree Trimmer (UTT), or ability to challenge exam.
  • Basic knowledge of trees, including identification, growth habits and correct arboriculture techniques for trimming, pruning, repairing, maintaining and removing.
  • Valid Class 5 drivers’ license with less than 6 demerits
  • Applicant must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
  • Current First Aid with CPR or willingness to obtain
  • Ability to lift, move and maneuver up to 50 pounds on an infrequent basis and up to 30 pounds on a frequent basis.
  • Ability to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather and environmental conditions.
  • Must adhere to the Company’s Drug and Alcohol policy.

Responsibilities

  • Trim, prune, and remove trees and branches that pose a risk to power lines, poles, and other utility infrastructure
  • Conduct regular inspections of areas around power lines to assess potential hazards posed by trees or branches
  • Work in both urban and rural environments, managing vegetation near overhead and underground utility lines
  • Use specialized techniques to safely bring down trees without damaging surrounding property, infrastructure, or utility equipment
  • Operate power tools and equipment such as chainsaws, pole saws, aerial lifts, chipper trucks, stump grinders, and cranes to perform tree trimming and removal
  • Train and supervise crew members to ensure that safety procedures are followed, especially when working around high-voltage electrical equipment
  • Maintain records of tree maintenance activities, including tree removal, pruning schedules, and any damage caused by vegetation to utility infrastructure
  • Track vegetation management progress and document completed work for utility records or regulatory compliance
  • Ensure work is done in compliance with environmental regulations, minimizing damage to natural habitats and wildlife
  • Other duties as required
