About The Position

DFA/Kemps has an immediate job opening for a well-versed Utilities Technician to perform an array of functions including being responsible for the overall system functionality for the facility’s ammonia refrigeration system, Boilers, and Air compressors. The Utilities Technician installs and repairs industrial and commercial refrigerating systems according to blueprints and engineering specifications, using knowledge of refrigeration, structural layout, and function and design of components. The Utilities Technician will also be responsible for assisting with maintaining the facilities Process Safety Management (PSM) program. The Utilities Technician will also be responsible for working with contractors on the Utilities equipment.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Minimum of 2 Years of experience directly working with ammonia refrigeration systems
Have Ammonia Operator 1 Certificate or better
Knowledge of Boilers and Steam Systems
Experience with air compressors preferred
Warehouse, production, or general work experience preferred
Able to effectively work in a team environment
Able to legibly write entries for record keeping
Able to use company computer systems
Able to work in a fast-paced environment
Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
Able to follow directions
Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Must be able to read, write and speak English

Nice To Haves

Boiler License preferred but not required
Certification and/or License – may be required during course of employment

Responsibilities

Maintain and perform preventative maintenance activities on ammonia refrigeration, boiler, and compressed air systems.
Complete accurate and timely documentation of maintenance records.
Observe and test system operation, using gauges and instruments.
Is engaged in dismantling, assembling, and installing refrigeration equipment.
Maintain communication with other departments, management and employees and notify them of any problems and/or concerns that may restrict the efficiency of production.
Ensure all paperwork is filled out in a clear, legible, and accurate format, and completed with required information. Ensure all required information is documented in accordance with SOP’s.
Assist in maintaining parts and supplies inventory by reporting low supply levels to Supervisor.
Utilizing continuous improvement mindset, assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes. Follow Good Manufacturing Practices.
Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work area.
Follow all required work safe practices. This would include lockout / tagout requirements and wearing of all required PPE in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.
Responsible for food safety, pre-requisite programs and food quality related to designated area. Report any food safety and food quality related issues to management immediately.
Perform other duties as assigned.
