About The Position

The Utilities Metering Systems Technician is responsible for assisting in the installation, maintenance and, troubleshooting of electric and water metering systems. This position will require driving a university vehicle to different university locations. Maintains up to date working knowledge of relevant regulatory issues and technological changes in the metering of utilities.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Valid Texas Class C driver license or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
  • Knowledge of digital electrical or water metering.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience installing electrical meters and meter related PLCs.
  • Three years experience in installation, maintenance, or repair of instrument rated digital electric or water meters, programming of electric or water meters, or other related experience.
  • Experience working with 24v, 120/240v wiring.
  • Capable of interpreting electrical and mechanical construction drawings and specifications.
  • Journeyman Electrician License

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the installation of electric metering devices, and meters that monitor chilled and heating hot water, domestic water, steam, and Irrigation metering.
  • Assist with installation and set up of temperature sensors.
  • Assist with the documentation of metering locations.
