Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent
1–3 years of experience in utilities, public works, engineering support, construction, infrastructure management, environmental services, or a related field preferred
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Valid Commonwealth of Virginia driver’s license with an acceptable driving record that meets City criteria

Nice To Haves

Associate degree or technical training in a related field.
Experience in utility inspections or environmental compliance.
Familiarity with grease interceptors and backflow devices.
Experience with data tracking systems or inspection software.
Understanding of local government operations or public works functions.
Relevant certificates in water distribution, wastewater collection, or utility inspection.

Responsibilities

Managing administrative tasks such as handling Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests and overseeing the permitting process. Ensuring that all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
Reviewing development plans and conducting field inspections to ensure projects adhere to municipal standards. This requires attention to detail and a thorough understanding of regulations.
Collecting data and managing assets as part of utility compliance programs and capital projects. Efforts will help maintain the integrity and efficiency of the utility systems.
Providing excellent customer service by addressing inquiries and concerns about utility services. Collaborating with utility staff, contractors, developers, and regulatory agencies to support water and wastewater systems effectively.
