About The Position

Chemours is seeking a Utilities Engineer to join our growing Plant Utilities team. This position will be available at the Washington Works facility located in Parkersburg, West Virginia and report directly to the Power & Services Manufacturing Technology Manager. This role will have engineering responsibilities as part of a broader engineering team for maintaining continuous operation of several site utilities, developing and implementing plans for utility capacity expansion, all supporting the area’s EHS, Cost & Reliability goals. The Plant Utilities Engineer will specifically support the various site well-water production, distribution, and pre-treatment systems, as well as production and distribution of compressed air, and distribution of Nitrogen and Natural Gas utilities across the site. This position will monitor performance and generate documentation as necessary to support compliance with site regulations and permits (NPDES, Title V, etc), and serve as back-up support for other utilities systems including steam and demineralized water.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a BS in Chemical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in an Industrial Process.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of typical equipment used in a Chemical Plant (i.e. pumps, compressors, piping, valves, boilers, etc.).
  • Superior Oral and Written skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Willing and able to wear required PPE (personal protective equipment) such as steel toes, hard hat, Nomex, eye protection, respirators, etc.
  • Awareness of OSHA 1910 (Process Safety Management).
  • Permanent work status in the United States without immigration sponsorship

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with wells, well drilling & pumping
  • Experience with air compressors, maintenance and rebuilding
  • Knowledge of environmental monitoring equipment and instrumentation such as pH, flow measurement, total organic carbon analyzers, etc.
  • Knowledge of Title V and NPDES regulation

Responsibilities

  • Act as a lead Process Engineering resource.
  • Recommends and implements solutions to drive continuous improvement.
  • Design and conduct process improvement tests in the plant
  • Leads and participate in Capital Programs to upgrade and refurbish equipment.
  • Lead and participate in troubleshooting, as needed.
  • Leads and participates in Incident Investigations.
  • Leads and Participates in Process Hazards Analyses.
