About The Position

Maplewood Toyota is seeking an experienced, dependable, and motivated Used Vehicle Reconditioning Technician to join their team. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in quality workmanship, can work independently, and is comfortable diagnosing and repairing a wide range of vehicle issues across multiple makes and models. As a Used Vehicle Reconditioning Technician, you will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and reconditioning used vehicles to ensure they are retail-ready and meet dealership standards. You will play a key role in helping deliver safe, reliable vehicles while supporting a fast-paced and team-oriented service environment.

Requirements

  • Previous automotive technician experience required; 5+ years preferred
  • Strong diagnostic and repair skills across multiple vehicle systems
  • A-level technician skills, including diagnostic, electrical, and engine repair, strongly preferred
  • Ability to learn new technology, repair procedures, and manufacturer specifications
  • Ability to operate electronic diagnostic equipment
  • Basic computer skills
  • Positive attitude and strong team mentality
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with others
  • Valid driver’s license required, along with a clean driving record and ability to pass a background check
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must have own tools

Nice To Haves

  • ASE certifications strongly preferred
  • Toyota certification is a plus
  • Broad knowledge of current vehicle technology and systems

Responsibilities

  • Perform work outlined on repair orders efficiently and accurately while following dealership policies and procedures
  • Inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair a wide variety of used vehicles across multiple makes and models
  • Test-drive vehicles and test components and systems using diagnostic tools and service equipment
  • Diagnose and repair automotive systems including engine, transmission, electrical, steering, suspension, brakes, heating, and air conditioning
  • Communicate directly with the Internal Operations Manager regarding vehicle condition, additional repair needs, and repair timelines
  • Provide accurate estimates of time needed for additional repairs
  • Complete recommended repairs in a timely and professional manner
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures and report accidents or injuries immediately
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
