Used Car Technician needed for busy dealership

About The Position

The Used Cars Service Technician is responsible for repairing, inspecting, and maintaining used vehicles brought to the dealership. Technicians must maintain inspection and emissions licenses and certifications to comply with current mandates and technologies. The role also includes assisting service managers and service advisers with customers, explaining automotive problems when necessary, completing dealership-mandated training, and following government regulations and Bowser safety policies and procedures. Other miscellaneous duties may be assigned.

Requirements

Excellent customer service skills.
Valid state inspection and emissions license.
Valid driver's license and good driving record.
Ability to multitask.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop approximately 8 hours per day.
Ability to lift no more than 50 lbs. at a time.

Responsibilities

Test vehicle parts and systems to ensure correct operation.
Identify mechanical problems, often using diagnostic equipment.
Follow checklists to ensure all vehicle checks are completed.
Perform basic to advanced maintenance, including oil changes, tune-ups, transmission work, tire rotations, and work on electronic and air conditioning systems.
Replace or repair worn parts.
Assist the Service Manager and Service Advisers in dealing with customers.
Explain automotive problems to customers when necessary.
Maintain all training mandated by the dealership.
Abide by government regulations.
Comply with Bowser safety policies and procedures.
Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
