About The Position

Oakes Auto Group is looking for an experienced Used Car Manager to lead every aspect of our pre-owned vehicle operation. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for inventory strategy, pricing, appraisals, purchasing decisions, reconditioning, and overall inventory performance. Success in this position requires someone who can analyze market trends, make confident decisions, and lead with accountability while driving profitability. Requirements

  • Valid driver's license with a clean or acceptable driving record
  • Ability to pass a standard background check
  • Strong reliability and consistent attendance
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to quickly learn dealership software
  • Minimum of one year of used vehicle experience required
  • Experience with vehicle appraisals, inventory management, pricing strategy, and reconditioning processes

Nice To Haves

  • Three to five years of used vehicle experience preferred
  • Previous leadership or management experience preferred
  • Used car management training or equivalent experience preferred
  • You have experience managing or supporting a used vehicle department.
  • You understand inventory management, market pricing, and vehicle appraisals.
  • You make confident decisions using data and market trends.
  • You can effectively balance multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
  • You communicate well with your team and hold yourself accountable to performance goals.
  • You enjoy working collaboratively and contributing to dealership success.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of the used vehicle inventory, including purchasing, pricing, merchandising, appraisals, reconditioning, and inventory management.
  • Develop pricing strategies using current market data while maintaining competitive inventory and maximizing profitability.
  • Manage inventory aging, vehicle turn rates, wholesale decisions, and the reconditioning process through Rapid Recon to ensure inventory is retail-ready.
  • Partner with dealership leadership to execute the used vehicle strategy while providing direction to lot personnel and supporting overall sales operations.
  • Monitor key performance metrics including gross profit, retail unit sales, inventory turn, aging performance, and process compliance while delivering an exceptional customer experience.
