Overview As the USA Gateway Manager (NE) will drive large scale process standardization and improvement initiatives across a rapidly growing area of AIT's North American international business. The USA Gateway Manager (NE) will oversee and guide the team in a positive, professional manner with regards to all operations of a specific gateway locations and is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a specific gateway locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (marketing, business, communications, or relevant field of study)
  • 5+ years of freight forwarding air experience, ocean experience
  • 5+ years of operations supervisory experience
  • 5+ years Experience with performance metrics, process improvement and lean methodology
  • 5+ years Experience in project management and managing third party vendors
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs: Excel and PowerPoint
  • Meets TSA airport badge access requirements
  • Strong analytical capability; track record of digging into data and finding solutions for a variety of operational problems
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and collaborator; able to articulate program recommendations, balance tradeoffs, drive consensus and gain support by utilizing excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to take ownership, managing conflicting priorities and driving results
  • Ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situations
  • Willing and able to travel up to 25% across the AIT network now and in the future.
  • Candidates must be flexible to work a variety of hours as business demands, including overnight, weekends and holidays
  • Cargo Wise experience knowledge
  • In-depth IATA/NVOCC Knowledge
  • Working knowledge of clearance procedures/AMS-AAMS/POA
  • Advanced Computer Skills

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage overall operations (route planning/capacity allocation) and performance of Air Export Gateway Team.
  • Drive Procurement Strategy & Negotiations (Rate, Space & Capacity) for exports with Carriers out of Gateway to ensure best buy rate.
  • Contract management.
  • Ensure optimization of network procurement and implementation of all consolidation opportunities
  • Escalates local carrier performance issues to local suppliers to Key Account Managers and Carrier Management when required.
  • Provide support to local AFR export (Operations, Aircraft Controlling Custodian, and Customer Service) teams for costs, transit times, and routing options.
  • Responsible for overall safety, quality, performance, customer experience and people development at the AIT’s gateways.
  • Exercise the authority to hire, discipline, reward, or discharge employees.
  • Responsible for staff training on policies, procedures, and SOP’s.
  • Presents operational metrics regularly to the senior leadership team.
  • Takes proactive steps to ensure that best practices are shared across all departments, shifts and the network.
  • Hold regular meetings with staff to discuss problems, issues, and ideas for improvement of gateway operations.
  • Other duties and responsibilities will be assigned as business demands deem necessary.
