About The Position

Adyen is searching for a US Risk Officer to join our team in either New York City or San Francisco. In this role, you will act as the primary representative for the global Enterprise Risk team within North America, serving as our eyes, ears, and voice. We operate a global framework supported by established governance and as our technological landscape, product suite, and regulatory environment evolve, we require proactive builders to implement and refine our regional setup. You will have the opportunity to contribute significantly during this period of rapid expansion across the region. As the first point of contact, you will manage risk management-related inquiries from regulators, merchants, and colleagues. The team is centered in Amsterdam, with fellow regional risk officers situated in London, Dubai, and Singapore. All teams work alongside other regional second-line functions, such as Internal Control, Compliance and Regulatory. We are seeking a versatile risk professional with hands-on experience in Operational Risk Management (ORM) who is eager to grow within a dynamic, fast-paced tech environment. A background in technology, financial services, or consulting is considered an asset. You possess a firm grasp of risk assessments and frameworks, the risk cycle, and risk taxonomies, and you are comfortable taking direct ownership. Adyen's flat organizational structure offers a steep learning curve and the chance to drive a variety of risk management initiatives.

  • You hold a strong understanding of the various components that form a robust ORM framework, enabling you to quickly identify improvement areas
  • You know and understand the relevant global and local regulations, and regulators
  • You have experience with managing projects, ensuring initiatives stay on track and deliver measurable outcomes
  • You leverage great communication skills to build consensus, manage stakeholders and drive adoption of risk best practices across different teams
  • You welcome teamwork and are not blocked by ego
  • You can communicate your interest in payments and fintech (experience is not required), recognizing the unique risks and opportunities within this sector
