We are recruiting for a U.S. immigration Law Clerk to join our team in our Toronto (or Montreal) office. The successful candidate must have a minimum of 5 years in U.S. immigration field. McCarthy Tétrault employees benefit from a hybrid work environment. This position is to fill an existing vacancy. Salary Range (Toronto Only): $75,000 - $85,000 annually The offered salary may vary based on the candidate’s job-specific knowledge, skills, and experience.

Requirements

  • University diploma related to the position or college diploma in paralegal studies (or equivalent) issued by a recognized educational institution.
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of U.S. immigration procedures and governmental agencies.
  • Strong written and verbal business communication skills in English.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks/deadlines with high level of attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (French and English) - Specific to Montreal office.

Responsibilities

  • Working closely with lawyers on U.S. immigration files.
  • Preparing and drafting non-immigrant visas applications (B-1, B-2, TN, L-1, H-1B, E, H-2, B-1, O-1, and P) and employment based immigrant visa applications.
  • Communicating with clients to gather relevant information and documentation and assisting in drafting various correspondences.
  • Submitting application through the various electronic portals.
  • Following-up on applications with U.S. immigration authorities.
  • Organizing the filing and submission of necessary documents for all the above-mentioned applications.
  • Using and updating our software and databases.
  • Coordinating, reviewing, summarizing and organizing data.
  • All other related tasks.
