This role sits under Wholesale Credit and Market Risk function and is part of the Global Risk Organization. The Traded Risk function monitors, evaluates and manages market and counterparty risks impacting across the HSBC Group. It is responsible for establishing the global risk management framework for Traded Risk and plays a key role in ensuring that the Bank is compliant with current and future regulatory requirements relating to Traded Risks and their capitalization. As outlined in the Enterprise Risk Management Framework, Traded Risk’s role as risk and control owners’ forms part of the First Line of Defense. Their role as risk stewards’ forms part of the Second Line of Defense. As our US Head of Traded Risk Measurement, Monitoring and Control you will: Partner with the Business to enable them to make appropriate risk/return decisions by providing an effective risk framework and capability Support, drive and embed the Bank’s broader Risk Strategy, meet our Regulatory commitments, and protect the capital of the Bank Adhere to an agreed set of risk policies and activities, whilst in parallel providing bespoke solutions and ad hoc responses to regulatory and stakeholder demands Embed a Global Operating Model, supported by standardized models, processes, governance and infrastructure Ensure consistent and transparent reporting lines, providing ownership and accountability across the Global Operating Model Provide a challenging and dynamic environment to attract, retain and grow our talent Empower our data providers to succeed through an effective control framework and regular engagement, to optimize performance Establish a globally centralized Transformation capability to deliver robust risk solutions that meet both our internal and regulatory requirements You´ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role: University graduate (master’s degree) in finance, computer science or any other quantitative related degrees Proven experience in Traded risk Experienced leader managing a team Experience of related banking areas, e.g. Product Control, Front Office Experience working in a risk control/reporting team Experience in sponsoring projects/initiatives Extensive knowledge of financial markets, trading business, market and counterparty credit risk Up to date with current market/economic trends and an understanding of the changing regulatory landscape Knowledge of Microsoft Office Ability in being flexible and working with stakeholders across multiple locations in a high pressure, time critical environment Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills Excellent presentation skills to brief senior management on topics and summarize key information Desirable knowledge of software development tools (VBA, Python, etc) As an HSBC employee, you will have access to tailored professional development opportunities to ensure you have the right skills for today and tomorrow. Requirements
