About The Position

As Head of Risk, you will play a critical role in identifying, assessing, managing, and mitigating risks across the organisation. You will ensure ongoing compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements while designing and implementing robust risk management strategies that protect TransferMate’s financial stability, reputation, and customer interests. The Head of Risk will take the lead in shaping TransferMate’s risk strategy – a senior leadership position with regulatory impact, board visibility, and the opportunity to future-proof our growth.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience (8-10 years) in risk management, with relevant experience in payments, e-money or a fintech
  • Deep understanding of Irish and EU payment regulations
  • Ability to operate in a lean environment, leveraging automation to integrate into business operations
  • Ability to influence C-suite executives and regulators and communicate risks concisely
  • Ability to identify and manage critical threats that could impact the organisation
  • Experience in many fields of risk management including risk identification; business continuity; third-party management and operational risk and regulatory risk
  • Strong understanding of IT, Cyber, operations, outsourcing and technology as well as audit and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the designated PCF holder (PCF-14) for risk in TransferMate’s Irish regulated entity (InterPay Limited) and acting as the primary point of engagement with the Central Bank of Ireland from a risk perspective
  • Develop, maintain and annually review risk management framework, policies, methodologies, taxonomies and risk appetite ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations
  • Identify, assess, monitor and mitigate risks (financial and non-financial) across the organisation ensuring effective controls and a strong risk culture
  • Define and monitor the organisation’s risk appetite and key risk indicators, providing timely and accurate risk reporting to senior management, board and committees
  • Develop and maintain a robust risk governance framework, ensuring timely regulatory reporting, escalation and adherence to risk governance standards and structures
  • Deliver risk management training and support the Board in embedding a strong risk-aware culture across the business
  • Build, develop and mentor a high-performing risk team while partnering with business leaders to embed risk considerations into strategic decisions and initiatives.
