About The Position

In this US-focused role based in Wilmington, you will serve as a trusted advisor to Market Access and Medical Affairs leaders, turning evolving regulations and policies into practical, business-ready guardrails that enable smart risk-taking and sustained growth. You will shape how the organisation engages with healthcare professionals, patient support programs, digital channels, and field teams—embedding controls into everyday processes so the business can move fast while doing the right thing. Your work will help protect patient trust and accelerate responsible access across Respiratory & Immunology, Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolic, and Vaccines and Immunotherapy. Reporting to the Head of Ethics & Compliance, US BBU, you will empower the first line of defense, collaborate across specialist compliance functions, and influence decisions at senior levels—without direct reports but with clear ownership and accountability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • > 5 years’ experience in pharmaceutical or biotech industry in compliance, law, finance, audit, and/or risk management is preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of US healthcare compliance legal framework (eg. FCA, AKS, FDCA, HIPAA, SOx) and UK’s ABPI and other relevant corporate governance, healthcare regulations, laws and standards, including US-specific healthcare fraud & abuse regulations
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of digital marketing, promotional and selling processes
  • Demonstrated project management and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated success in continuous improvement of compliance frameworks across business units and/or markets
  • Skilled in delivering simple, business-driven solutions
  • Strong writing skills and ability to create policies, guidance documents and written content that are clear and comprehensive for the business.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clear, actionable compliance advice that aligns with business goals; translate policy and law into simple, scalable controls integrated into systems and processes.
  • Empower Market Access and Medical Affairs teams to own day-to-day compliance and risk decisions; enable smart, agile choices in a fast-moving environment.
  • Serve as the dedicated compliance partner to US-based customer-facing teams; collaborate closely with business unit compliance counterparts.
  • Proactively identify, assess, and handle risks tied to new commercial and medical strategies; ensure robust mitigation plans and effective implementation.
  • Design and execute a risk-based monitoring plan for commercial and medical activities; analyze trends and partner with team members on corrective and preventive actions.
  • Partner with Oncology and Rare Disease compliance, Global Assurance, Global Compliance Investigations, and the Ethics & Privacy Enablement & Innovation Center to implement monitoring, investigations, training, awareness, and risk management that strengthen the global compliance program.
  • Work with Access Services on reimbursement support strategy projects, programs, and risk evaluations.
  • Champion “Doing the Right Thing,” reinforcing ethics and integrity through guidance, training, and visible leadership.
  • Provide timely input to the corporate compliance program and drive consistent execution across the business.
  • Lead simplification and efficiency across units; be an early adopter and advocate for digital tools and ways of working.
  • Engage independently with leaders and management teams to advise, share insights, and constructively challenge decisions to improve outcomes.
  • Perform other responsibilities as needed to advance the compliance framework and business priorities.
