About The Position

The urology technician is an individual who, through didactic and supervised practice, has acquired the knowledge and developed the skills necessary for providing urinary catheterizations, urinary drainage tube irrigations, ultrasonic bladder scanning, and reinforcement of home-going education related to self-catheterization or urinary drainage tube irrigations. The urology technician is responsible for responding to calls in the inpatient and ambulatory setting at both the St. Marys campus and downtown/Methodist campus. Individuals push a mobile supply cart from call to call.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or successful completion of GED
  • Previous health care education or experience
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to adapt to unpredictable fluctuations in workload volume
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills
  • Knowledge of aseptic techniques

Nice To Haves

  • Hospital medical background preferred

Responsibilities

  • Providing urinary catheterizations
  • Providing urinary drainage tube irrigations
  • Providing ultrasonic bladder scanning
  • Reinforcing home-going education related to self-catheterization or urinary drainage tube irrigations
  • Responding to calls in the inpatient and ambulatory setting at both the St. Marys campus and downtown/Methodist campus
  • Pushing a mobile supply cart from call to call
