Requirements

Board Certified /Board Eligible Urology Physician Services
Current license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia when services are performed onsite on VA property.
Board Certified /Board Eligible by the American Board of Urology (ABU).
Currently certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalency.
All continuing education courses required for maintaining certification must be kept up to date at all times.
Meet all VA educational requirements and mandatory course requirements defined herein; all training must be completed by the contractor’s physician(s) as required by the VA.
Technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the government’s requirements, including the ability to speak, understand, read, and write English fluently.
Provide verifiable evidence of all educational and training experiences including any gaps in educational history for all contractor’s physician(s).
Abide by the Facility's Medical Staff By-Laws, rules, and regulations.
Successful completion of an approved residency program in Urology during which 3 years were devoted to Urological surgery.
Estimated 90% of the time involved in direct patient care.
Expected to be in hospital 0730-1600 local time.
80 hours a pay period, Monday through Friday.
No call responsibilities or Federal holiday responsibilities.
Expected to be able to perform: Lymphatic Major Procedures, Abdominal Major Procedures, I&D Prostatic Abscess, Prostate Procedures, Urethra Procedures, Ureter Major Procedures, Epididymis and Spermatic Cord Procedures, Bladder Procedures, Kidney Major Procedures, Penis Procedures, Scrotum Procedures, Testes Procedures, Endoscopy Procedures, and should be able to use holmium laser, ESWL, and able to perform fluoroscopy.
Estimated 10% of the time not involved in direct patient care (Administrative).

Nice To Haves

A North Dakota license is preferred but not required.
Robotics certified is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Provide Urology Physician Services on site in accordance with the specifications contained herein to beneficiaries of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the Fargo VA Health Center.
Evaluate and treat patients in a Urological outpatient clinic daily, seeing patients on consultation and coordinating referral of consultants when necessary.
Make in patient rounds for Urological patients.
Perform cystoscopies, vasectomies, scrotal surgeries, ureteroscopies, transurethral surgeries for prostate disease and bladder cancer.
Provide basic general urological care.
Provide clinical urology services including surgeries, consultations cystoscopies and other related urology procedures.
Be present on time for any scheduled clinics/surgeries as documented by physical presence in the clinic or operating room at the scheduled start time.
Follow all established medication policies and procedures. No sample medications shall be provided to patients.
Participate in continuous quality improvement activities and meetings with committee participation as required by the facility Chief of Service, Chief of Staff, or designee.
Follow all established patient safety and infection control standards of care.
Make every effort to prevent medication errors, falls, and patient injury caused by acts of commission or omission in the delivery of care.
Document all events related to patient injury, medication errors, and other breeches of patient safety in the medical record of those impacted and disclose to the patient or surrogate as soon as practicable (but within 24 hours).
Notify COR of incident and submit an entry in the Patient Safety Reporting System, following up with COR as required or requested.
