About The Position

Altru Health System is seeking an APP to join our established and collaborative Urology team in Grand Forks, North Dakota. This is an excellent opportunity to join a robust, team-based practice while enjoying strong work-life balance in a clinic-focused role. Join a robust team of Urologists and APPs. Work-life balance: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. No call required. Outpatient-focused urology practice.

Physician Assistant | National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) | Prior to Start Date | HR Primary Sources

Physician Assistant | Minnesota Board of Medical Practice | Within 2 Months of Start Date | HR Primary Sources

Basic Life Support (BLS) | American Heart Association (AHA) | Within 90 days of Start Date | Learning Management System
A minimum of 1 year Related Experience
Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English to ensure effective communication in the workplace and with patients, families, and team members.

Responsibilities

Provide outpatient urology care including: New patient evaluations, Referrals and consults, Post-operative follow-ups, Routine rechecks and same-day add-ons
Perform histories, physical exams, and patient assessments
Order and interpret labs and diagnostic tests
Educate patients and families on urologic conditions, treatment plans, and post-op care
Collaborate closely with physicians, APPs, and nursing staff
Prescribe medications and manage treatment plans within scope
Provides patient/patient’s family with appropriate education based on the patient’s condition and identifies needs in order to optimize understanding.
Provides health maintenance and disease management counseling to patients.
Obtains comprehensive medical histories, performs physical examinations/assessments and initiates admission orders as appropriate.
Participates in plans for health promotion, prevention and maintenance for the Altru Health System, the community and region.
Provides medical management and/or other interventions for acute and chronic health problems.
Writes orders for prescription medication under the established protocol.
Orders and interprets lab studies and diagnostic tests to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment as appropriate.
Notifies patients promptly of test results.
Collaborates with physicians, as necessary, to verify diagnosis, identify high-risk situations, or alerts to changes in patient’s status and takes appropriate action.
Serves as a liaison and a resource for physician, health care team members, patients and families.
Performs pain assessment and takes appropriate action according to standard operating procedure.
Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
