About The Position

This role is a frontline caregiver position in an Urgent Care setting. The Urgent Care Technician will provide direct patient care, collect patient data under the direction of a Nurse, and assist with various medical procedures and room preparation. The position also involves maintaining professional development, orienting new staff, and ensuring excellent service to all patients and visitors.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
  • Must meet at least one of the following qualifications: Currently licensed as a CNA in MA with at least one year of patient care experience, Currently licensed as an EMT or Paramedic in MA, Previous experience as a Medical Assistant, Currently enrolled in an accredited RN program OR Healthcare Track program with at least 2 clinical rotations, Has 1-3 years of direct patient care experience within an Urgent Care, Physician’s Office, or Healthcare setting.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Responsibilities

  • Participates as a frontline caregiver to patients in Urgent Care.
  • Provides direct patient care and collects physical, psychological, and social patient data under the Nurse's direction.
  • Assists in direct patient care according to the policy and procedures of Urgent Care, including but not limited to: Complete Intake to include vital signs, EKGs, Durable Medical Equipment application, Wound Care, Point of Care Testing, and Ear Irrigations.
  • Is familiar with equipment in the department and the location of all items.
  • Assesses personal and learning development needs. Maintains documentation of current and ongoing professional development activities. Regularly updates knowledge of techniques and regulations appropriate to the ages of the patients served.
  • Orient other UC Techs to the unit as assigned by the manager.
  • Performs other work-related tasks and activities as assigned or requested by the manager.
  • Assist with cleaning and preparation of exam rooms as needed including stocking rooms and organization of incoming supplies.
  • May assist in patient registration, intake, and answering phone calls at the center.
  • Perform other work duties as requested.
  • Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers.
