About The Position

This role involves providing direct patient care in an urgent care setting under the supervision of a provider. Responsibilities include patient intake, assessment, administering treatments, patient education, and maintaining a well-stocked and organized environment. The position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a commitment to service excellence.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (for RN)
  • Currently licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (for LPN)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Previous IV insertion/therapy skills
  • Acute care experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) (Preferred)
  • Previous Urgent Care/Emergency Department experience (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Assist in initiating care in the Urgent Care setting under the direct supervision of the provider.
  • Identify patients correctly by asking for name and date of birth.
  • Perform patient intake, assessment, point of care testing, administer provider-ordered treatments, and provide discharge instructions and patient education.
  • Assess and treat patients in a fast-paced, high-volume urgent care setting.
  • Obtain and document current medical history, medications, and allergies within the EMR.
  • Assist providers in urgent care procedures, including EKGs, dressing changes, suture removal, ear lavages, splinting, injections, IV insertion, and IV infusions.
  • Maintain and stock all rooms, IV carts, and other supplies; ensure equipment is in proper working order.
  • Return patient phone calls to answer general medical questions in a timely manner.
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality of information.
  • Assess personal and learning developmental needs and act as a resource for other staff and patients.
  • Participate in staff meetings and other activities that promote the growth and development of nursing and patient care.
  • Work cooperatively with co-workers and communicate politely with department employees, patients, and visitors.
  • Perform other work duties as requested.
  • Consistently provide service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers, and co-workers.
