About The Position

Hartford HealthCare, a leading health care provider, and GoHealth Urgent Care, an on-demand consumer-centric care company, are seeking experienced Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners to join their urgent care centers across the Connecticut area. The role focuses on providing effortless patient experiences and seamless integration with health systems and communities. This position involves treating both adult and pediatric patients with urgent care, emergency room, or high acute family medicine experience. A sign-on bonus is available for external candidates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required for Physician Assistants
  • Master's Degree required for Nurse Practitioners
  • One (1) year of full-time experience in Emergency Medicine or One (1) year of Urgent Care setting experience required. Will consider 2 years of Family Medicine experience.
  • National Certification
  • Active state medical licensure
  • Experience treating patients ages 6 months and up in an acute care setting required.

Nice To Haves

  • Work experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Room setting preferred
  • Applicable office procedures including but not limited to suturing, splinting, casting etc.
  • Preliminary reads on EKGs and X-rays required.
  • Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records
  • Ability to be attentive with strong listening skills
  • Strong communication and customer service skills

Responsibilities

  • Provide a wide variety of clinical services including treatment of acute episodic conditions such as sore throats, colds, flu-like symptoms, cuts, sprains and minor infections.
  • Recognize more serious conditions and direct the patient to the emergency room for advanced care when necessary.
  • Examine and treat patients.
  • Take patients’ medical histories.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests and X-rays.
  • Make diagnoses and prescribe medications.
  • Treat minor injuries that may require sutures, splints, or casting.
  • Record progress notes for follow-up patients.
  • Educate and counsel patients.
  • Order and/or carry out therapy with patients.
  • Give vaccinations, and refer patients to additional care.
  • Work an anticipated eight (8) or twelve (12) hours per shift.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
