About The Position

Hartford HealthCare and GoHealth Urgent Care are operating urgent care centers across the Connecticut area. At Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth Urgent Care, we place the needs of our patients first by providing an effortless patient experience, a welcoming culture of care and seamless integration with market-leading health systems and our communities. We are seeking experienced Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners who have urgent care or emergency room experience, treating both adult and pediatric patients, to join our welcoming and diverse community of providers in the surrounding region. Urgent care Advanced Practitioners (Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner) provide a wide variety of clinical services including treatment of acute episodic conditions such as sore throats, colds, flu-like symptoms, cuts, sprains and minor infections. Functioning in lieu of or alongside of a physician, it is essential for an urgent care Advanced Practitioner to have excellent assessment skills in order to recognize more serious conditions and direct the patient to the emergency room for advanced care when necessary. Per diem requires commitment of 2 shifts/month.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required for Physician Assistants
  • Master's Degree required for Nurse Practitioners
  • 2-5 years of post-residency clinical experience required
  • Minimum 18 months experience in applicable practice setting
  • Adult and pediatric practice experience strongly preferred
  • National Certification
  • Active state medical licensure
  • Work experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Room setting
  • Applicable office procedures including but not limited to suturing, splinting, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records
  • Ability to be attentive with strong listening skills
  • Strong communication and customer service skills

Responsibilities

  • Examining and treating patients
  • Taking patients’ medical histories
  • Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and X-rays
  • Making diagnoses and prescribing medications
  • Treating minor injuries that may require sutures, splints, or casting
  • Recording progress notes for follow-up patients
  • Educating and counseling patients
  • Ordering and/or carrying out therapy with patients
  • Giving vaccinations, and referring patients to additional care
