About The Position

The Ultrapure Water & Industrial Waste Treatment (UPW-IWT) Department Leader provides strategic direction and operational oversight for a mission-critical team of over 50 engineers, technicians, and operators. This role is responsible for ensuring 100% uptime and uncompromising quality of utilities for an advanced, high-volume Semiconductor Manufacturing facility. The Leader drives the functional strategy for water systems, ensures 100% regulatory and environmental compliance, and fosters a world-class safety culture while managing a multi-million dollar capital and expense budget.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering (or related field).
  • 15+ years of experience in a high-stakes Facilities or Engineering environment (Semiconductor, Pharmaceutical, or Power industries preferred).
  • 5-7+ years of experience in a senior leadership role managing large, diverse teams of engineers and hourly operators.
  • Deep knowledge of membrane filtration (RO/UF), ion exchange, and complex industrial wastewater chemistry.
  • Proven ability to lead data-driven process improvements and root cause analysis (FMEA, 8D, or Six Sigma).
  • Exceptional influence and negotiation skills with the ability to present complex technical data to executive leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the long-term roadmap for UPW and IWT systems to support future fab expansions and evolving technology nodes.
  • Oversee 24/7 daily operations, ensuring all ultrapure water specifications and wastewater discharge requirements are met without interruption to manufacturing.
  • Drive a "Zero Harm" mindset, ensuring strict adherence to OSHA standards, environmental permits (NPDES), and local/federal regulations.
  • Develop and manage the organization’s annual expense (OPEX) and capital (CAPEX) budgets, optimizing Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) through lifecycle asset management.
  • Lead water conservation and recycling initiatives to meet corporate environmental stewardship goals and improve process efficiency.
  • Mentor and develop a multi-disciplinary team; establish performance metrics, accountability standards, and a culture of continuous technical improvement.
  • Partner with Fab Operations, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), and Finance to ensure organizational alignment and seamless communication.
  • Lead Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and emergency response protocols for all utility-related infrastructure.
