About The Position

The Pike School is seeking an Upper School Spanish Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate will have middle school teaching experience, including 5th grade. The world language department consists of a group of teachers who strive to design the best possible experience for their students. This teacher should be prepared to teach students at various grade levels in the Upper School. Our ideal candidate will also have experience and excitement in teaching French. Collaboration and effective communication are essential skills for this position, as is a joy for working with students in this age group and for all of the subject matter included in the Upper School world language curriculum. A successful candidate will bring strong culturally responsive teaching practices, a demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning, and a collaborative approach to teamwork and planning. Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Strong middle school teaching experience (Grade 5 - Grade 9)
• Experience with technology and its implementation in World Language classrooms
• High emotional intelligence and sensitivity to organizational dynamics; exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Desire to work in a dynamic independent school as a team player and devoting the time required to model excellence in job performance.

Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree in Education, Spanish, French or a related field preferred.
• A passion for working with students in this age group and a record of outstanding teaching as well as thoughtful innovation moderated by a skillful and sensitive approach to change
• Experience and excitement in teaching French.
• Experience creating interdisciplinary connections with grade level content preferred

Responsibilities

• Designing, planning, and implementing world language instruction for students in the Upper School (Grade 5 - Grade 8)
• Assessing, documenting, and communicating effectively with colleagues and families about student growth and development
• Partnering with leadership team, learning specialists, counselors, and teachers in support of the student learning experience
• Adapting existing curriculum to meet needs of current students and their schedule; curriculum/program development and experience creating interdisciplinary connections with grade level content preferred
• Collaborating with Grade Level Teams and the Upper School World Language Department to deliver consistent academic instruction.
