About The Position

St. Michael's Catholic Preparatory School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Cheer Coach to work with our Head Coach and lead our esteemed cheer program. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of cheerleading techniques, a commitment to developing student-athletes, and a desire to foster a positive and supportive team environment rooted in our school's values.

Requirements

Previous experience as an assistant coach at the high school or collegiate level
Proven ability to teach and motivate student-athletes
Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills
Commitment to school mission and values
Ability to work collaboratively within a coaching staff
EIM (Ethics & Integrity in Ministry Training), CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Must pass background and reference checks as required by the school

Responsibilities

Follow the Head Coach's vision for the cheerleading program that aligns with the school's mission and values.
Maintain a positive and supportive team culture that promotes teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship.
Assist in managing all aspects of the cheer program, including practice schedules, game preparation, and competition planning.
Work with spirit programs on campus to create a cohesive spirit culture.
Instruct student-athletes in all aspects of cheerleading, including stunting, tumbling, jumping, and choreography.
Implement effective practice plans with the Head Coach that focus on skill development, conditioning, and team building.
Provide individualized coaching and feedback to help student-athletes reach their full potential.
Ensure the safety of all team members by teaching and enforcing proper technique and safety protocols.
Prepare the team for TAPPS, local and regional competitions, ensuring routines are polished and meet competition standards.
Develop and implement engaging routines for school events and athletic games when needed.
Assist with team travel and logistics for competitions and performances.
Serve as a positive role model and mentor for student-athletes, promoting academic success and personal growth.
Foster a sense of accountability and responsibility among team members.
Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, and school administration.
Uphold the academic standards of the school, and ensure that athletes are upholding those standards.
Support other athletic programs by attending games and events, creating a unified athletic spirit.
Collaborate with the Athletic Director, Spirit Coordinator, Head Coach and other coaches to promote a positive athletic environment.
Represent the school and the cheer program in a professional and positive manner.
Organize and participate in community service activities as needed.
