About The Position

Connelly School of the Holy Child is seeking an experienced and dynamic Upper School French Teacher to fill a long-term substitute teaching position. The candidate will be teaching various levels of French from level 1 to AP. We are looking for candidates who are passionate about teaching and have a commitment to fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment for our students. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in French, Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
Native or near-native proficiency in French.
At least 3 years of high school teaching experience with demonstrated success in fostering novice and intermediate language proficiency.
Strong understanding of and commitment to the principles of effective language instruction.
Ability to integrate technology in the classroom to enhance learning experiences.
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to connect with students and families.
Commitment to the mission and values of Connelly School of the Holy Child and to fostering an inclusive and diverse school community.
Willingness to engage in continual professional development and reflect on teaching practices.

Responsibilities

Teach French to students in grades 9-12, developing proficiency in all language skills across novice, intermediate, and advanced levels.
Create an inclusive and dynamic classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
Implement a variety of instructional strategies, with a focus on communicative language teaching and cultural understanding based on ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines.
Collaborate with colleagues in the World Languages Department to develop a cohesive and interdisciplinary curriculum.
Assess student learning effectively and communicate progress regularly with students and their families.
Design performance assessments and projects that assess the 21st-century skills of critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity.
