About The Position

We’re seeking a passionate Upper School Bible Teacher who loves sharing scripture and Christian theology in ways that are faithful, academically rigorous, developmentally appropriate, and mission-aligned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Candidates should be willing to participate in spiritual life activities and mentor students in faith and character.
  • Demonstrated Biblical literacy and theological maturity
  • Ability to build positive relationships with high school students and partner with families
  • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
  • Comfort with educational technology and learning management systems

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Bible, Theology, Ministry, Christian Education, or related field preferred
  • Tennessee Teacher License preferred
  • Three or more years of teaching experience preferred
  • Strong early-career candidates are encouraged to apply.
  • Effective secondary teaching experience (preferred) with evidence of strong pedagogy and classroom management
  • Master's degree in Bible/Theology, Christian Education, or a related discipline
  • Experience in pastoral ministry, youth ministry, spiritual formation, or Christian schooling
  • Capacity to contribute to co-curricular life (support, missions, worship)

Responsibilities

  • Teach a full-time load of HS Bible courses (e.g., Old/New Testament, Christian Ethics, Christian Story, Apologetics, Spiritual Formation) as assigned
  • Design standards-aligned, biblically faithful units and lessons with clear learning objectives and assessments
  • Integrate spiritual formation practices (Scripture engagement, prayer, reflection, service) into classroom rhythms
  • Collaborate with the Bible department and the Director of Spiritual Formation on curriculum alignment and discipleship initiatives
  • Contribute to chapel/worship experiences, service-learning, retreats, small groups, and mentoring
  • Maintain accurate records, communicate proactively with students and families, and uphold school policies
  • Participate in professional learning, department meetings, and school events
  • Model Christian character and shepherd students with care, consistency, and integrity
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned (e.g., advisory, chapel, clubs, or co-curricular leadership)
