About The Position

Coney Island Preparatory Public Charter School is seeking an Upper Elementary School Humanities Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree strongly preferred.
• Willingness to complete a Master’s degree and NY State certification within two years of employment (school offers $2,000 towards completion).

Responsibilities

• Internalize standards-aligned curriculum and content (Insight Social Studies, mClass, and Fundations).
• Teach academically rigorous and culturally relevant lesson plans, materials, and assessments, differentiating as needed.
• Create a positive, structured, results-oriented, and fun learning environment that supports students with various abilities and experiences.
• Be punctual and present.
• Communicate effectively with scholars, families, and staff.
• Consistently implement school-wide systems, structures, and procedures.
• Work to eradicate the effects of racism, poverty, and other forms of oppression by ensuring equitable and accessible resources, opportunities, support systems, and classrooms for all stakeholders.
• Analyze instructional and culture data to create action plans and improve teaching practice to strengthen student outcomes.
• Participate in school community responsibilities including lunch duty, dismissal and hallway duties, whole-school events, daily morning meeting, weekly advisory groups, weekly data meetings, weekly content team meetings, whole-staff professional development, lesson internalization and practice, and weekly grade team meetings.
