About The Position

This position involves teaching the district-approved curriculum to upper elementary students. The teacher will be responsible for creating a safe and respectful classroom environment, employing various instructional techniques and technologies to engage all learners, and establishing clear learning objectives. The role also includes using diverse assessment methods, taking a trauma-sensitive approach, and communicating professionally with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues. Maintaining accurate records is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in education from an accredited college or university required
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with ZG or ZE or ZC or ZP endorsement(s)
Must be highly qualified as defined by the Michigan State Dept. of Education
Ability to build meaningful, caring relationships with students
High degree of technology skills
Willingness to learn the tenants of Positive Behavior and Intervention and Supports (PBIS)
Desire to collaborate with peers and work as a team

Responsibilities

Teaches district approved curriculum

Establishes and communicates clear objectives for all lessons and units
Uses a variety of formative and summative assessments
Takes a trauma-sensitive approach when working with students
Communicates professionally to students, parents/guardians, and colleagues
Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations
Other duties as assigned by building administrator
