About The Position

This position is responsible for upholstering parts for boats, following the production schedule. The role involves attaching materials to boat parts, ensuring that seams and stripes are straight and wrinkle-free, and inspecting materials for any flaws, discoloration, or other defects. The upholsterer will also maintain records of work performed and any defects or repairs, handle materials to and from the workstation, and may assist in cutting and foaming activities.

Requirements

Must be able to read and understand production schedule.
Must be able to use a variety of hand and power tools, including screw gun, drill, staple gun, etc.
Must wear personal protective equipment, including safety glasses.
Some lifting (up to 50 lbs.), with or without accommodation, is required.
Normal duties require standing, kneeling, crouching and reaching.
Talking, hearing and normal vision are required.
Able to understand spoken instructions with regard to job training and safety concerns.
Ability to speak conversational English.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed finishing of all products.
Ability to deal with changes related to equipment use and productivity.

Trims upholstered parts.
Ensures that seams and stripes are straight and wrinkle free.
Inspects materials for flaws, discoloration and other defects.
Keeps records on work performed and defects and repairs as required.
Handles materials to and from work station.
May assist in cutting and foaming activities.
Responsible for clean and orderly work station and for observing safety procedures and precautions.
Reports to work on time for designated shift.
Adheres to company safety policies and procedures.
Comprehends fitting fabric to predetermined shape and size.
Handles, fingers and shoots air staple and screw gun in safe/productive manner.
Pulls fabric tight and staples with consistent grip pressure.
Handles and safely uses knife, scissors, steamer and staple puller.
Performs other duties as assigned.
