About The Position

Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS) is seeking qualified personnel to support the Department of Energy at the Y‑12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, Texas. Successful candidates will be employees of AIS, a government contractor focused on employing motivated individuals to support Y-12's mission of ensuring a safe, secure, and reliable U.S. nuclear deterrent. While employed by AIS, employees will receive day-to-day direction from Y-12 staff. AIS provides pay, benefits, Human Resources, and Employment Management. Applicants must be US citizens, at least 18 years old, and meet pre-employment requirements including physicals, drug screens, and background investigations for Department of Energy clearance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree with 10-14 years’ experience in technical disciplines in addition to experience writing technical procedures in a commercial or Weapons Complex facility.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and administrative requirements affecting procedures.
  • Ability to determine technical requirements by examining DOE Orders and Standards; 60-101PD, Quality Assurance Program Description, and Y60-015, Integrated Quality Manual; Nuclear Criticality Safety (NCS) documents; and Hazard Analysis documents.
  • Active DOE Q clearance or ability to obtain one.
  • Must be a US citizen, at least 18 years of age.
  • Able to meet pre-employment requirements including any required physicals, drug screen, and/or background investigation to satisfy clearance requirements from the Department of Energy.

Nice To Haves

  • In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, a technical background with 18 years’ experience in writing technical procedures in a commercial nuclear or Weapons Complex may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new, revised, or modified technical procedures for tasks related to dimensional inspection, material testing, metrology, procurement, radiography, and weld inspection.
  • Comply with Y15-232, Technical Procedure Process, and the Technical Procedure Authoring Tool (TPAT).
  • Occasionally develop or revise administrative procedures and comply with Y15-235, Administrative Management Requirements Process, and the Administrative Procedure Authoring Tool (APAT).
  • Develop Enterprise procedures applicable to Y-12 and Pantex.
  • Prepare and coordinate procedure reviews and comment resolution.
  • Implement hazard controls.
  • Capture quality and performance data.
  • Ensure procedures can be performed as written through verification and validation.
