About The Position

The Unlicensed Nursing Assistant (UNA) provides a variety of patient care activities and accommodative services for assigned patients. Performs patient care activities within limits of position--does NOT administer any medication or therapy; does NOT assume independent responsibility for any patient. These will be 12 hour shifts, day and night shifts available. Will have to work all days of the week, shifts will rotate.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year experience as a UNA.
  • BLS within 30 days of hire.
  • Unit specific competencies obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • Ability to show proof of all immunization records.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

  • Provide designated and specified patient care to assigned patients under the direct supervision, consultation and notification of a licensed nurse in accordance with physicians' orders and in conformance with approved patient care standards based on previously acquired nursing skills.
  • Perform phlebotomy and FSBS testing after completion of phlebotomy or medical assistant certification and necessary training.
  • Record graphics, intake and output, and ADL's in the computer and flow sheet accurately and implement measures to promote a safe environment for patients and others.
  • Be knowledgeable of the usual and stable baseline conditions (both physical and mental) of the specific patient population in which they are employed.
  • Institute appropriate nursing interventions that might be required to stabilize a patient's condition and/or prevent complications. Report objective relevant observations to the licensed nurse to assist in care-planning.
  • Communicate and interact effectively with patients and their families based on sensitivity to the psychosocial needs of patients.
  • Utilize equipment in the provision of patient care services safely and effectively with adaptation of equipment usage to the age and general condition of the patient, as indicated.
  • Assist in the cleaning and sanitation of all equipment and supplies used in the unit and adhere to all guidelines regarding use of cleaning products.
