About The Position

The University Talent Advisor II will contribute to GM Financial's (GMF) Talent Acquisition Strategy by identifying and building strategic partnerships externally with academic institutions, military, community and diversity organizations and internally with business partners and hiring managers to determine the most relevant outreach plan, ultimately delivering a viable talent pipeline for the business. This team member will participate in the development and execution of the campus recruiting and intern program. Responsibilities also include tracking and reporting on key metrics, supporting process improvements, participating in recruiting and HR effectiveness initiatives and building strong relationship with functional HR leaders, business leaders and hiring managers.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of statutory regulations pertaining to recruiting, such as, but not limited to, anti-discrimination laws, pre-employment screenings, interview techniques/limitations, and special accommodations related to the position.
  • Complete understanding of individual hiring manager’s expectations of the recruitment process to include: job requirements, desired job posting locations, salary structure, required managers to be involved in the interview process and the date the position is expected to be filled.
  • Complete understanding of the GM Financial pre-employment process, policies and procedures, and benefits package is required.
  • Excellent consultative, communication, interpersonal and networking skills are a must.
  • Demonstrated ability to build deep relationships with candidates and interns considered high value targets by the business
  • The ability to close offer candidates and drive intern conversions at a high rate
  • Must demonstrate a team-oriented, collaborative nature and have the ability to work with all levels of individuals.
  • Ability to work independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations and make sound decisions while meeting time sensitive deadlines.
  • Proven success with participating in small, medium and large scale talent acquisition projects.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills with ability to multi-task and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated success in sourcing and recruiting for a number of business units.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills are required to build and maintain relationships with managers at various levels.
  • Extensive knowledge of applicant tracking systems (ATS); posting open requisitions, tracking candidate activity and maintaining compliance with required data fields.
  • Strong technical aptitude; ability to navigate multiple systems such as the Google platform and all social sourcing tools in addition to Windows operating systems, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
  • High School Diploma Required
  • 3-5 years experience as a recruiter, preferably with a strong background in Corporate or University recruiting preferred
  • Strong experience with executing sourcing strategies preferred
  • Strong professional presence and solid business acumen preferred

Nice To Haves

  • The ability to fluently speak Spanish and/or Portuguese would be valuable.
  • Experience with University/College recruitment & programs preferred
  • Experience counseling hiring managers regarding recruiting strategies and practices that support the goals and direction of the organization preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent work experience Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the development and execution of innovative recruitment strategies and solutions aimed at promoting the GMF brand to prospective students/applicants and developing a diverse candidate pipeline for GMF fulltime campus, intern, and community hiring programs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with academic faculty; career office employees; students, military and community organizations
  • Attend recruiting events such as career fairs, information sessions and networking events at core schools and selected community groups to increase brand awareness and application rate of top talent.
  • Plans, organizes and executes recruiting events at target schools including presentations, career fairs, and interviews.
  • Drives the deployment of additional resources to support recruiting events and activities by utilizing alumni, GMF Brand Ambassadors, and other members of the business.
  • Acts as consultant and advisor to hiring managers, Brand Ambassadors and GMF leadership for talent pipeline development
  • Conduct and participate in phone and face-to-face interviews.
  • Manage the presentation, interview process, offer, negotiation, closing and administrative components involved in full life-cycle recruiting.
  • Participate in and possibly lead/manage small scale talent acquisition projects to enhance and improve the Recruiting department's functions.
  • Leverage existing branding and recruitment tools to their full capacity (i.e. Handshake, iCIMS, Hirevue, NACE, etc.).
